The State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration has revised and released the “Measures for the Supervision and Management of Sales Quality and Safety Supervision of the Edible Agricultural Products Market”, which clearly stipulates that the use of “fresh light” is prohibited when selling fresh edible agricultural products.The new rules have been implemented on December 1, 2023, but some merchants still use it in violation of regulations.To this end, the Procuratorate of Minhou County has recently carried out special supervision activities to rectify the “fresh light” problem to ensure the safety of the people.

The Procuratorate of Minhou County recently conducted a comprehensive inspection of the farmers’ markets, large -scale supermarkets and fresh stores in more than 10 townships in Minhou County.The results showed that there were “fresh lights” in the production of meat and fruits and vegetables in Minhou County and some townships. The use of lamps significantly changed the real color of agricultural products.

In order to protect consumers’ rights and interests, the Minhou County Procuratorate has sent a letter to the regulatory authorities to investigate and deal with merchants operating illegal operations.At present, 4 merchants who have been operating cold foods and 46 merchants who use “fresh lights” illegally have been investigated and punished.

After the completion of the rectification, the Minhou County Procuratorate launched a “look back” operation. The results of the review showed that the “fresh light” of the fresh stalls has been replaced by the standard lighting fixture, and the nature of fresh food is restored.
